I believe in and have faith in God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Ghost. I testify that Jesus the Christ is my Savior and our Savior. I believe that the Gospel was restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith, that this Church is the true Church of Jesus Christ, and that today we are led by Br. Joseph’s successor as prophet, President Russell M. Nelson. I believe that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God, along with the Bible, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. I know that all of these things are true through my conversion and my personal experience.
Our mother raised us in the Southern Baptist Church, and I was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Carmi. I walked out of that church at age 16 and was interested in the Roman Catholic Church for several years. In 1976, I was baptized and confirmed into the Church of Jesus Christ at Cheyenne, Wyoming, my first duty station in the Air Force.
Over the next several years, I was a member of many difference stakes (dioceses) and wards (congregations), and served in many callings. Now, I’m a member of the Shaker Heights Ward, Kirtland Ohio Stake, where I’m the Ward Clerk and one of the Temple and Family History Consultants.
A great deal of early Church history occurred in and around Kirtland, and the Kirtland Temple is here. The Cleveland Ohio Temple is under construction. It’s a pleasure to be here!

The Articles of Faith, written by the Prophet Joseph Smith in 1842, are an authoritative, although not comprehensive, statement of what we believe, recognized today as Scripture Click anywhere in this box to see the online version, which can be downloaded.
Books Worth Reading
Legrand Richards, an Apostle of the Lord, wrote the first book I read about the Church: “A Marvelous Work and a Wonder”. Another Apostle, James E. Talmage, wrote two books I recommend, “Jesus the Christ” and “The Articles of Faith”. The Apostle Bruce R. McConkie wrote “A New Witness for the Articles of Faith”. You might also like two books by Robert L. Millet, “Living in the Eleventh Hour” and “Living in the Millennium”.
